About the Project and what to do if you want to help.
Iron Seas is an open ended project which will be periodically made available as a free download. (There may be a small bandwidth charge. ). Development is open ended in the sense that it will be as big or as small as interest dictates. When Iron Seas completes certain phases ( to be decided) , the current "build" will be released .
There is to be no hype with feature promises . Ideas will be laid out where Iron Seas could develop but there will be no implicit promise that these will take place.
Iron Seas is not a project with a fixed team. If you feel you would like to contribute, please send a PM to horsa using the Subsim forums. Outline your skills and what you think you could contribute to the project. In many cases it will be necessary for you to work to printed guidelines which which be supplied to you. An example of this would be model creation where you will need to work to certain formats, poly limits etc
All these "official" contributions will be credited in the project readme which will be released periodically with the current "official build" of the Iron Seas. There is no binding committment on your part to remain as a contributer for ever more and a day. Once you have made your contribution you can move on, and if you wish drop in again at a future date. Contribute as much or as little as you wish. However I will exercise some "editorial control" over who does what for the official builds , - mainly to avoid duplication and also to ensure that efforts are channeled in a reasonably efficient direction.
If you wish, there is no reason why anyone should not make their own "unofficial" contributions, in much the same way that a modder would make additions to a stock game. However these will remain entirely the responsibility of their creators who must make their own arrangements for downloads.
